Trolley Project
I've had this idea in my mind ever since I did my Hong Kong street scene painting.
Trolleys are pushed around Hong Kong streets and particularly on Lamma Island as we have no cars,
( we do have Village Vehicle's).
Trolleys help transport many different things from the morning pork delivery to washing machines...they come in many shapes and sizes (and conditions)
The plan is to draw most of them at trolley level so hands and feet might be there but not always the face, still working on them but here are the first few sketches...........
I really want to zoom in to details at some point but I'm trying to discipline myself to zoom out for a while.
(Apologies to people on Lamma, just couldn't get the old farmers face right )

Oh dear, I'm SO in love with these! Is this a durian (or maybe a jackfruit)? Gaaawd, I wish I could have some of these wonderful fruit you draw! These pictures make me drool all over my keyboard. *g*

p.s. Any time you have trouble with a drawing, hold it up to a mirror for a moment (you mentioned having trouble drawing the vendor's face).
A fantastic insight to life on Lamma Island, all transported about on a trolley! Great drawings.

ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comments everyone!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like the idea.
E*phi, the fruit on the top is a jackfruit which grows in Hong Kong but on top of a durian box...if you smelt durian your mouth would not be watering, it's a fruit that is banned from flights in Thailand
(I think this trolley was to transport rubbish from the fruit market in Hong Kong)
What a fascinating project. These are beautiful drawings!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely idea. Google "Julie Oakley" for my sister's illustration blog.
ReplyDeleteRachel (on Lamma with three dogs)
