Dim Sum No 1

Har Gao, prawn dumplings.
After sketching these for the Arthouse Sketchbook a few years ago, I always wanted to do some watercolour versions.
Finished this before last week's exhibition (with four other artists) and it sold before I got to post it.
A very nice feeling
I'm thinking of including this (or a range of dim sum) in the limited edition prints.....
what would you like to see as prints?

yet more chili peppers

work in progress, not sure whether to paint the little peppers or not

Another wave

Small typhoon wave from a photo  (looks more dramatic than it was, artistic license or the angle it was taken), taken after my swim today......still calm over here ........

Red Cabbage

I was so happy to find a red cabbage  but this cabbage has been driving me crazy........begged me to buy it, got it home and found out why is was cheap - teasing me with it's very pungent aroma, distracting me from what I should have been doing today.
Then finally frustrating me with it's front leaves.

Books and Frangipani

I found this frangipani on the path on my way back from a swim.
Got home and heard the sad news about Iain Banks.
Here's a few of our well read novels. Thanks Mr Banks!

Everyday in May 31 houseplant

The last challenge, quickly done as it's 32 degrees and sunny and I'm off for a swim....after doing some more washing.

Here's our very tall yukka (?) Most of the plants are outside.
Think I've learnt how to loosen up and sketch (did this more with my brush rather than a pencil) and have more fun this year, but looking forward to getting back to watercolour paper and the inevitable food.....

Everyday in May 30 closet

I don't actually own a wardrobe, just a hanging rail and a curtain.......

Everyday in May 27 Sticky

Draw something sticky.
I walked to the village today in search of stickiness. The weather was humid and sticky
These are a few things I found.Time is short but want to go back to this theme...I love drawing food.

Everyday in May 24 laugh

Today's challenge...draw something that makes you laugh.......hastily done.
Comedy of the week download from the BBC, I  listen to on the ferry and MTR. The frozen prawn image stuck in my mind (I decided to put my phone in there, not part of the comedy)It was inspired by Alun Cochrane's Fun House The Living Room  not going to explain it you'd have to listen....wish I'd had more time to play.(Tried to do a coat hanger print but that didn't work)

Everyday in May 20 wine

Draw your favourite drink. I couldn't decide between this or coffee.
I sat on the balcony at sundown, a great time to have a chilled glass of wine after a long busy day.
I started to sketch as a big thunderstorm approached so I had to retreat inside.
The thunderstorm was quite dramatic and right over Lamma.

....storm in a wine glass.

Everyday in May 19 bacon sandwich

I had lots of possibilities this morning but couldn't resist drawing this after cooking it...my daughter's bacon sandwich (I don't eat meat)

I was enjoying doing this so much I finished quickly and now doing a version on watercolour paper. (Had to take a photo as she couldn't wait for me to sketch it)

Everyday in May 18 palm of left hand

not my favourite thing to draw!

Everyday in May 16 marine pollution

Draw something that scares you......Did the theme rubbish on the beach as a page in one of my Arthouse Sketchbook pages and always wanted to explore further......but had to work this afternoon so time ran out......but you get the idea. A public holiday here tomorrow so hoping to catch up with everyone!

Thanks to my friend Dr Andy Cornish, check out his blog  at Ecozine Hong Kong if you want to know more about marine issues in Hong Kong.
