A quick sketch of a Chinese way of preserving eggs, the first time I've actually bought them!

This is one way I can live without but, makes a good drawing subject, although impossible to get the jelly-like consistency of the pi dan. The other black duck egg I thought would be the same but was extremely runny. (and much stronger egg smell than the other)
Scrambled, fried, omelettes and chocolate to follow.
Wonderful sketches, Debra. I really like how you captured the transparent wrapping with the lettering on the eggs.
ReplyDeleteI bet they were a bit wiffy!
ReplyDeleteGreat egg work Debra...I'm looking forward to the chocolate one.
I'm playing catch-up, but I have to say your egg drawings are wonderful! I checked out the wikipedia link for the 1000 year eggs and found it very interesting. I don't think I'd try them, though ... for some reason they just don't seem to appeal to me. nancy
ReplyDeleteHow did I get so behind on your posts?! You are prolific and all of the work is excellent. I think it is great how you did the wrappers and the fine lettering on them. Catching up, such excellent stuff, and most much harder, I am sure, than the one I am about to say, but I love the banana peel!!!
ReplyDeleteA friend and I tried the black ones when hiking in China. Can't say I liked it, too strong smell and taste.
ReplyDeleteGreat drawings.
Your work is so intriguing and unique! I think this should be framed and sold to a restaurant for their walls. Its wonderful!
ReplyDeletei really liked looking at your various depictions of the eggs. nice work. you're quite right about those quail eggs in thailand. delicious!
ReplyDeleteI kinda miss them actually, it's not like they taste good or anything... they look disgusting yeah, but the texture is something you can't replicate with anything else =) Beautifully drawn!
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your kind comments...I've got to admit, I didn't eat them afterwards!
ReplyDeleteI have tried pickled eggs before and didn't like them. I don't think I'd like these types either. Great sketch tho.
ReplyDeleteWell, that was very interesting! Nice drawings as well. Fun to visit your blog. Thanks for your comment on the glass Koi pond.
ReplyDeleteContinued success!
beautiful drawings ! what did you do with then afterwards?
ReplyDeleteI must admit to throwing some sweets out after I have drawn them for a challenge
